Situation
A SOV operator requested a solution to track approximately 120 personnel who would be deployed on wind farm turbines and fixed platform locations. Fixed scanners for onboard mustering were also a requirement.
Solution
Smart-Trac can track personnel movement based on card scans and allows for full site overview where multiple locations are involved. For this client EPIC installed fixed RFID readers at the gangway, lifeboats, and the daughter raft, allowing for proper tracking of personnel as well as controlled mustering across the vessel. Scanning the issued RFID card at the gangway reader would automatically move that person to the attached location in real time, allowing full control of the work force flow during operations. The flexibility of the system meant that it could differentiate between individual turbine locations and platform locations to provide accurate data for the SOV’s crew, proving to be a far more efficient solution than t-card or paper-based manifesting.
Outcome
A comprehensive personnel tracking system that allows full site overview of personnel locations as well as mustering and evacuation capabilities through fixed readers and RFID technology.
