Another Successful FPSO FAT

20 October 2026 0 Comments

Last month saw the successful completion of another Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), this time for our largest single-site project to date. The FAT covered a high-specification, fully redundant A/B Smart-Trac system that will be installed next year on a new-build FPSO operating offshore Angola.

The week-long FAT, held at our Southampton facility, was attended by the system integrator, operator, and vessel owner. Extensive testing was carried out across all hardware components, alongside our dedicated POB and electronic mustering software platform, to validate performance, functionality, and system redundancy.

The project also includes twenty-four custom-designed dual-head Ex Zone 1 fixed RFID readers, providing comprehensive personnel tracking coverage throughout the asset. In addition, the solution will be fully integrated with the FPSO’s access control, PAGA and ICSS systems, enabling automatic muster initiation and real-time system fault notifications. This integrated approach delivers a robust and highly automated personnel management and emergency response solution for one of the region’s most significant new offshore developments.

The FPSO, which is currently in the final stages of conversion in China, will become the seventh site in Angola to deploy our system for this customer. This brings the total number of installations across West Africa to more than ten FPSOs, in addition to several shore-based refinery locations. The continued expansion of EPIC across the customer’s portfolio is a strong endorsement of the reliability and scalability of our POB system. The fact that this customer has chosen to standardise on EPIC across their offshore and onshore operations demonstrates the confidence they place in our ability to deliver consistent personnel management and mustering capabilities across a diverse range of assets.
